Commsoft, a world leader in aviation engineering and maintenance systems, is delighted to announce that its Open Aviation Strategic Engineering System (OASES) has been formally chosen by the UK-based aviation consultancy RTTS to support its work with airlines, leasing companies and CAMOs.

Dealing extensively with ‘end of lease’ aircraft owned by both UK and US companies, RTTS already has experience of using OASES within Commsoft’s own hosted environment, loading data for two Boeing 767-300ERs converted from passenger to freight configuration. In addition, the company has been involved in aircraft implementation tasks with other OASES users, including Jet2 and Airclaims.

Designed to combine ease of use with a technical sophistication that allows for the full integration of all maintenance and engineering functions, OASES is structured in a modular format and RTTS will be using the Core, Airworthiness and Planning modules.

Commsoft (www.commsoft.co.uk), a world leader in aviation engineering and maintenance systems, is delighted to announce that Windrose Airlines (www.windrose.aero) has become the latest user of Commsoft’s pioneering MRO IT system.

Windrose Airlines, a charter airline based in Kyiv, Ukraine, has signed a 5 year, 20 concurrent user deal with Commsoft, electing modules focalising Airworthiness, Planning, Core, Line Maintenance and Material Management from Commsoft’s OASES programme. The Airline looks to commence operations with OASES immediately and has already launched detailed implementation planning, following the recent acquisition of aircraft in the Ukraine.

OASES (Open Aviation Strategic Engineering System) is designed to combine ease of use with a technical sophistication that allows for the full integration of all maintenance and engineering functions, from inventory management and purchasing to defect control and work scheduling. The hosted programme allows easier, lower cost access for small operators by avoiding set-up costs such as sever acquisition and third party licensing.

Windrose Airlines, founded in 2008, operates a fleet of four Airbus A321 and four Airbus A320 airliners. The airline operates charter flights from Kiev-Boryspil, Kharkiv, Lviv, Simferopol, Dnipropetrovsk, Ivano-Frankivsk, Odessa, Zaporizhia and Donetsk in the Ukraine to a variety of winter and summer resorts in Europe and the Middle East.

Following the decision of MEGA Maldives, the international airline of the Republic of Maldives, to adopt Commsoft’s OASES as its MRO IT system, the airline has now appointed Airclaims to provide CAMO support for its fleet.

Covering two Boeing 757s and two Boeing 767s, the contract with Airclaims provides for the delivery of aircraft induction, technical records management, maintenance planning, airworthiness data review and assessment, reliability monitoring and maintenance programme control services. The contract also includes the option to extend the service to cover further services such as Airworthiness Review Certificate (ARC) renewals.

Airclaims, on behalf of MEGA Maldives, will be using a dual standalone hot/cold server set up running a suite of OASES modules, including Core, Planning, Line Management, and Airworthiness. To fully manage the airline’s needs, Airclaims will be utilising the extensive support that Commsoft offers throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Commsoft, a world leader in aviation engineering and maintenance systems, has successfully developed a bespoke interface for its client BA CityFlyer that connects NVable’s Appixo Electronic Technical Log (ETL), recently fitted on every aircraft in the BA CityFlyer fleet, with Commsoft’s OASES, the MRO IT system used by the airline. The interface between Appixo ETL and OASES went into live operation across BA CityFlyer’s airline network in mid-November 2012.

By facilitating the transmission of real time data from the ETL installed on the flight deck, via GPRS packets to a ground server and onward to OASES, the interface enables faster resolution of defects allowing for proactive maintenance rather than reactive maintenance after the event. The transmission of operational as well as engineering data also provides additional benefits such as potential fuel savings from better fuel management.

Mark Leather, Continuing Airworthiness Manager, BA CityFlyer stated: "The auto feed of our Electronic Technical Log data into OASES gives us real-time data, enabling us to monitor the reliability of our aircraft in a more proactive manner and gives greater visibility to all areas of our business. This supplemented with a reduction in data-input workload further increases our efficiency. The forward-looking and innovative approach taken by Commsoft and NVable coupled with their good understanding of our business enabled us to achieve these goals in a relatively short timescale."

Working in co-operation with NVable, Commsoft developed the interface in two stages – the first stage focusing on the transfer of flight, sector and fluid uplift data and the second stage dealing with engineering defect and component change data.
